About SOJUS Bioenergie

SOJUS Bioenergy - International Scientific Network Bioenergy, Germany, Eastern Europe and Central Asia

The research network SOJUS Bioenergy supports cooperation between researchers and companies from Germany, Eastern Europe and Central Asia in the bioenergy field. It enables the partners to reach for technically efficient, economically and ecologically optimised and thus sustainable solutions in bioenergy applications.

Main topics are funding of research cooperations, the sustainable integration of bioenergy in already existing infrastructure (using forest biomass, agricultural products and residues as well as waste biomass), development of concepts for self-sustaining energy of agricultural complexes, the improvement of the know-how basis in this field and impulses for legal framework development.

SOJUS Bioenergy is managed in close cooperation between Deutsches BiomasseForschungsZentrum in Leipzig, Fraunhofer UMSICHT (Oberhausen) and the Technical University of Dresden on the German side and scientific and company based partners in various regions (currently mainly in St. Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Minsk, Kiev)

INNOVATIVE ASPECTS AND MAIN ADVANTADGES / BENEFITS:

SOJUS Bioenergy is based on evolutionary principles. This means, the network will be based on cooperation projects and it will grow according to success in cooperation projects. Success depends on active involvement and responsibilities on German and Eastern European and Central Asian partners.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

About 50 partners on the German and 250 Partners on the Eastern European and Central Asian side

CURRENT STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT:

SOJUS Bioenergy has been built up during the years 2009-2011 (funded by the German Ministry of Environment). Network operation has been started with the beginning of the year 2012.

TYPE AND QUALIFICATION OF CO-OPERATION PARTNER:

Scientific institutions or research oriented companies in the bioenergy field.
